Kecksburg Acorn
Acorn-shaped object reportedly recovered by US military. Witnesses describe a black flatbed truck departing the area under guard.
On the late afternoon of 9 December 1965 multiple witnesses across six U.S. states and parts of Canada reported a fireball passing east-southeast. Witnesses in Kecksburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, reported an object descending into woodland north of the village. Local witnesses including Stan Gordon, who first investigated the case for the Westmoreland Bureau of Investigation, described an acorn-shaped metallic object with hieroglyph-like markings on its rim.
The United States Army arrived at the scene within hours, secured a perimeter, and removed an unidentified object on a flatbed truck. The Air Force later stated that nothing had been recovered. Project Moon Dust documents declassified in the 2000s do not explicitly reference the case.
